Three layers of design
Customizing the MyHome IDX Theme is easiest when you know which layer owns what. The theme settings own the site-wide look: header, footer, colors and typography. Elementor owns the content of each page: sections, text, photos, layout. And Global Styles in your IDX Plugin dashboard owns everything IDX: search forms, listing cards and the IDX pages. Change something in the right layer and it lands exactly where you expect.
Header, footer, colors and fonts
The site-wide look is set once in the theme settings and applies everywhere. Swap the logo, adjust the header and footer, change the color palette and the fonts, and every page follows. These changes never touch the content of your imported pages, so you can restyle the site at any point without redoing any of the editing work. That is also why picking a demo during the theme setup is a content decision, not a color decision.
Editing pages in Elementor
Every page is an Elementor page. Open it, drag sections and elements where you want them, and see the result as you edit. The imported demo gives you ready sections, hero areas, listing rows, agent blocks, so most work is rearranging and rewording rather than building from zero. The free version of Elementor covers all of it, no paid upgrade required.
The IDX elements
Search forms, listing cards and the IDX pages take their look from Global Styles, not from the theme, so the same brand settings cover the whole integration. A single widget can still get its own treatment through its Appearance tab, as covered in Adjust Search Form Fields and Appearance.
